The Rock Dove Project

The Rock Dove Project is an anarchist project composed of a two-pronged network. This network aims to connect people in search of cheap/free health care ("seekers") to health practitioners who offer cheap/free services and agree with our mission statement ("providers").

As a collective, Rock Dove will facilitate the process by offering seekers access to a directory of participating providers, and forwarding service requests to providers who are looking for people to serve. See below for details regarding both aspects of the Project.

The Rock Dove Project aims to:
  1. Create a safe space for dialogue among providers of social, physical, mental, sexual and spiritual services whom are politically radical.  The purposes of creating this space for such providers is to:

    • discuss the contradictions in institutional service providing agencies, which are often hierarchical and rigid, and the goals of liberatory service provision, while strategizing about creating more egalitarian networks of service provision.

    • sharing resources and practices from a life-affirming point of view.

    • inititating conversation about how service provision can be a part of a revolutionary practice and can be situated in the realm of radical organizing as opposed to the realm institutional service.

    • provide moral support through the creation of an expanded community.

  2. Create a service provider network for the anarchist community and the wider communities in need.  The purposes of this network are:

    • Provide referral and direct well being services to our anarchist and other communities at large.  The Rock Dove Collective recognizes that many radical groups have not committed to self- or group- care and group dynamics, and for this reason, many groups have failed to reach their goals or sustain their existence. We believe that some services include meditation, mental health, physical and spiritual health, and a general commitment to well-being of ourselves and fellow organizers.

    • We recognize that the government fails to adequately care for people and that a type of liberal professionalization of care-taking has also failed to care for many people.  For those who do not have access to health care, alternative health care, or social, psychological and spiritual servies that are not liberatory or life-affirming, we aim to create a directory of services that can be accessed. This directory will be comprised of those who are in the network and those who are not, but would like to help and/or participate.

    • One part of this directory will be public.  This will include programs that are free, low cost or available through mutual aid that people can access. Another part of the directory will be known only to the Rock Dove Collective and will be available through referral of the Collective.  This structure aims to protect the service and identity of those willing to provide free care when the organization they work for does not condone it, or when there are only a few service slots open and the provider has requested a mediated screening prior to referral, or when the provider chooses to remain anonymous or not publicly linked to an anarchist collective.  (See Types of Involvement)
Lastly, the Rock Dove Collective's role will be to facilitate the service providers network, organizing network meetings, coordinate outreach for both parts of the project and maintain the physical directory, as well as be responsible for the confidentiality of both those offering and those requesting services.

The doves thank you for wanting to create and participate in this project, for wanting to pay attention to and take care of our minds, hearts, souls, bodies and neighbors; for wanting to create and participate in communit(ies)).
