Resources
Dear Friends,
Rock Dove needs your help. We are building our directory of free and
low-cost services in the city (for you!), and we want to know a lot
more about all of them--how free/low cost their services are in
practice, who they serve, how receptive they are to folks with radical
politics, queer folks, undocumented folks, folks of color, folks with
criminal records, the quality of their services, the accessibility of
their space, childcare options, their openness to non-Western medical
practices, and so on. When we know these things, we'll put them
online, and they'll be available to you and everyone you know and
love. We think that will be very useful.
This is where you come in. We are looking for a crew of volunteers
to check out the list of clinics and services we've developed. Some
of this could happen over the phone, some would involve going in
person to these clinics and seeing how they match up to the criteria
we hope for in places that care for our health. All of it could
happen flexibly and at your own pace/schedule. We have the (always
growing) list of sites, the (always evolving) list of questions we'd
like to ask them--all we need is you.
So please join us on Tuesday, December 4th at 7pm at EarthMatters cafe
(177 Ludlow St. just below Houston) for our open meeting where we will
discuss this and other ways you can become involved in Rock Dove. If
you can't make the meeting but would like to help (even just a couple
visits would make a difference), drop us a line and we'll work it out.
In the meantime, please let us know if you might be interested, how
much time you think you'd have to give, whether you think you'll be
able to join us on the 4th, and anything else you'd like us to know.
You can write to rockdovecollective@riseup.net, or to me directly at
danielle@rockdovecollective.org.
Be well,
the Rock Dove Collective
